Baby food

Baby food seems to be a very interesting topic when I bring it up to other mommies. When did you start feeding your baby food? What kind of food did you first introduce to your baby? How much did you feed them, etc? The next debate... Do you make baby food or do you buy baby food?

I feel like there is so much to know and do when it comes to this topic. So, I've done a little research. The pros out way the cons in making your own baby food (time permitting). I came across a website I really liked and it was very informative. Wholesome baby food - reasons to make your own baby food.

My next question would be... which processor do you choose? A regular good ol processor or a baby specific?
Baby Brezza
Beaba Babycook
Cuisinart

What are your thoughts on that? I'm pretty much sold on the Beaba Babycook... but, should I just get a regular processor? Oh the options!

  1. I just read a very interesting article from the New Yorker (Feb 7, 2011)called, "The Peanut Puzzle" by Jerome Groopman all about food allergies and how the incidence in America has been increasing rapidly in the past 20 years...possibly due to when we feed our infants foods. So much research still needs to be done, but it's a great read.

    Here's the link:

  2. Ah, the food debate. I took a pretty low key approach. The only thing I was a real stickler on was I didn't offer my kids anything other than breast milk until they were 6 months old. I didn't make my own food...I had the time, just not the desire. I did rice cereal for at least a month and then went with veggies, then fruits. I can't really remember much after that. It's a mommy moment that I chose not to stress about. It is the same as every other thing I am sure you are realizing as a momma: You do what works for you and you feel is best for your baby and just stand by it! You are doing such a fabulous job already so I'm positive whatever you choose will be what is best for your precious boy!

  3. I started Zach on rice cereal at 4 1/2 months and after about 10 days we moved to stage 1 fruits and veggies. I made my own baby food as well and it was really easy. I have a Cuisinart food processor and it worked great, I didn't see the need to spend money on a specific baby food processor. Two other great websites are http://weelicious.com/ and http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/

  4. I love that website! It's such a great resource for making baby food, which I am doing. I haven't made up my mind on the Beaba yet so I'm just using my Cuisinart and it works great.

  5. I already have a cuisnart and have made some food for my nephew and it was great- I used the mini cuisnart. I saw the baby brezza in the store and it looked pretty impressive!

  7. I made most all of the baby mush myself using an immersable processor I found that to be easier than a baby specific processot because I could make smaller quantities. Most of the time I either pureed what ever we were eating or cooked some of the veggies a little longer so they were soft enough to gum.

Your family is beautiful, by the way!
