Happy 2nd Birthday, Asher John!

Dear Asher,

Today is your second birthday. We celebrated with our closest friends yesterday. You had such a blast. And tonight for your actual day, we're going out for ice cream!

I want to see you happy... ALWAYS. I know this is impossible, but I will do my best to create a happy home. And I will be here for you with whatever life may throw at you. You can count on that.

You are so similar and very different from your brother in many ways (funny, right?). I love all the differences you both have. It makes you both so very special to me.

You are adventurous. Not sure you have much fear. You go for it.. full force! No one can tell you differently. Kick butt, and take names kinda kid. I love it. I don't worry about you with bullies. I think you'll put them in their place, and you'll protect others.

You adore your brother. Where ever he goes... you want to go. In fact, when we drop your brother off at school you cry... every time. You hate seeing him go. When we go and pick him up, you run right into his classroom looking for him. He also adores you. If you aren't around, he's definitely asking where you are. :)

Everyone watches you. You're adorable. Seriously... you are beautiful! You are funny... SO VERY SILLY! You have amazing curly hair. I could go on and on. You are so very loved!

Asher means happy/blessing, and this is so true. We couldn't have picked a better name for you. You are happy. God has blessed you, and us with you. I hope to teach you more and more about our Lord. You love going to church and playing with the other kids. In September, we are starting you in the same Christian preschool as your brother.

I hope you know how happy you make your father and I. You create even more joy in our home. I love having two beautiful, happy, and loving little boys. I'm proud of the little boy you are becoming, and can't wait for all the good that is in store for you.

Happiest of Birthday's little man!

You are my sunshine, always and forever,

Your mommy.

The first moment I held you. Pure heaven. Perfect little baby boy. What a joyous day!

Kids are funny.

Yesterday, I picked Jake up from school, and he handed me a cereal box. I asked Jake what it was... Puzzled, I told Jake to put it back where he got it from, and that it wasn't ours.

The teacher came up to me and said, "Isn't that Jake's box?", still puzzled, I said, "no." She began to tell me that the children shared their favorite cereal box. And that when that box was pulled out, Jake claimed it was his. No one said anything else, and Jake walked around the classroom telling his classmates that was his favorite cereal.

I started hysterically laughing. Jake didn't want to take a box of cereal for show and tell yesterday... He brought Buzz Lightyear. The teacher, other moms, and I couldn't stop laughing. By the way... his buddy, Blake, brought in a blue truck for show and tell. Jake usually brings in what he's supposed to... but, today he was dead set on Lightyear. The teacher doesn't mind, and long as the children get up and share what they brought. ;)

Jake is too much. He claimed it, and said how much he liked it... Never actually trying it. So, we took the box with us (since no other child said it was theirs), and went home. When we got out of the car, Jake was still holding it. He demanded that I go to Target (I know... we go there a lot!), to get him a box.

KIDS?! RIGHT?! Too funny.
 Silly boy.
Happy weekend!

Happy HEART Day!

I love this day more than most. I have ALWAYS loved this day. Even as a child. It wasn't about if I'm in love with someone... it's about LOVE in general. My mom made this day about us. Her showing love to us. I looked forward to all the thoughtful things my mom did for us. we spent time as a family. Quality time.

Now that I'm a parent, I hope to do the same for my sons. I love my boys everyday. We even do fun stuff everyday. I'm home with them... annoying them all day, I'm sure. ;) But, on Valentines Day, I want to show them an extra special day of love for my family.
I like to make breakfast, and give presents (mainly learning or art activities). Then Jake goes to school, and I get Asher all to myself. After school and naps, we do the activities that I bought them from earlier. Tonight, Grant will pick up one of our favorite family restaurants and we'll eat at home. Mellow, fun, yummy, and amazing because we are together. Tradition. 5 years and counting Grant and I have picked up take out here and have eaten it at home. WINE. Grant and I will drink fabulous wine, and play with the kids.

Then tomorrow night, it's all about Grant and I. Date night. We date every Saturday. I look forward to it all week, and I get butterflies with the thought of dressing fabulous, and going out with the most beautiful man I know. He is generous, loving, loyal, a great dad, and husband. I'm a lucky girl. I love dating that man.

So, there you have it. This is what Valentine's is for me. I don't want flowers. I want time. I want love. I want my boys.

I hope everyone has a great day, and feels love somewhere.

Here are some pictures of my love muffins.

My almost 2 year old!! SERIOUSLY... 2 in a week and a half. I. CAN'T. HANDLE. IT.

Asher's first official sport. And our first official parent drama.

What sport do you really put a 23 month old in? He did gymnastics, Gymboree, etc... but, I thought it might be nice to have a sport where he's running, starting to follow direction from an instructor, and be with other kids his age. Jake's class is at 10 am, and Asher's is at the same time. So, it works out perfectly. Grant goes with Jake, and I go with Asher... and then we switch halfway in. Asher's is parent participation... so, it's nice to have Grant jump in so I can sit out and watch Jake's. :)

Asher LOVES it!
Asher is clearly a whole head taller than ALL the kids in his class... which brings me to a story from last weekend...
Grant came over to Asher's class, and I went over to Jake's. About 15 minutes in I see Grant come back really angry with Asher in his arms. Apparently when they take the cones and try and catch the bubbles, Asher managed to run into one child 3 times. Asher didn't push the child, he plainly ran into him. The child's mom grabbed Asher by the arm and yelled to Grant, "watch your child... this has happened 3 times"... Grant obviously didn't handle that well... He fired back, "They're 2!!! They're all running into each other"... And then he walked away before it escalated anymore.

Grant didn't tell me that she grabbed Asher... can you imagine? I would have ran over and handled business. However, he did tell me about what she said. I grabbed Asher from Grant, and went back to our class. I went right up to her, looked her in the eyes, and put Asher back down. She looked away quickly, and kept her distance. NO ONE MESSES WITH MY CHILD. AND NO ONE WILL PUT THEIR HANDS ON MY CHILD AS WELL. PERIOD.

Knowing NOW she put her hands on Asher I'll make sure I stay in the class longer and be certain she doesn't put her hands on my child. I might even approach the organization about it. Everything in me wants to approach her directly... but, I have a feeling that won't go well. So, I'll be there next week... MAMA BEAR READY. Hopefully, she feels bad about her actions, and realizes that these are literally babies out there running around. NOT one of them are listening.
Buddies!
Jake and one of his buddies, Henry. Henry is my big bro from college's son. Funny all these years later and we are still all friends.
Jake is doing great and learning a lot, and Asher loves running around kicking the ball. I love sports, so I can't wait until they get older and play more. It's so fun!

Until next week!

Growing... Growing... Growing!

The boys are growing so fast! I took them to Nordstroms for new shoes and they grew yet another size.

Jake (3 1/2) is an 11. Asher (2 on Feb 24) is a 10.
Aren't these the cutest?
YIKES! Soon there feet will be bigger than mine!

Happy Tuesday!

Lexington Stone

We have a new member of our family. Meet Lex. She's a 10 week old Pudlepointer. She's a German hunting dog breed. They are a hypoallergenic/non-shedding breed. She's fabulous. Sweet, loving, smart, and most importantly, she LOVES the boys.

She is adjusting well, and we are working on crate training and potty training. It's a little cray in the house right now, but hopefully she's potty trained soon. She's doing pretty good, but there are accidents... ha ha.

WE LOVE HER TO PIECES!!

Here are some pics of our new girl. :)
