15 month check up.

Jake is actually 16 months tomorrow, but we've been traveling visiting my parents. I wanted to at least post a little update on Jake.

Jake had his 15 month baby well check last week and he's doing great! He's growing like crazy. He's in the 90th percentile for weight, and over a 100th for height. He's 28 pounds and 34 1/2 inches. The doctor checked his height twice just to confirm. I guess they see me and can't believe how tall my little man is. Then I remind them that my husband is 6'8, and it all makes sense. ;)

Our little guy is talking like crazy. Mainly lots of chatter. And then he has his core words. It's so cool hearing his new words. He loves to point at things so I can explain what they are. He's very inquisitive.

He's running all over and climbing on everything. He is so much fun to play with. He loves to play outside and hang out with older kids. He's not too interested in younger kids or babies. Just the older ones. Perhaps because they are more his size and are playing actual sports. While he's been in Idaho he's been kicking around the soccer ball, throwing a football, and playing basketball. My little sports fan. Next time we are here he'll be on the golf course with his uncle! :)

San Diego Weekend

Over the weekend Grant and I went to San Diego for Kevin and Samantha's wedding. Grant was a groomsmen. I went back and forth for about 6 months what I was going to do. Bring our babysitter down with us or leave Jake in his home comfortable. I've been using Michelle since Jake was 4 weeks old. She is a professional nanny and also my best friends cousin. I'm totally comfortable with her, but not totally comfortable without my sidekick Jakey poo. Michelle and Grant convinced me that it was better to leave Jake in his own home to play and do his normal activities rather than take him to a hotel for 2 days. Jake has stayed in hotels, but never without me. Grant thought I wouldn't have any fun if Jake was with us because I'd still want to spend all my time with him. I think he would have been right. We decided to keep Jake back with Michelle for 2 days.

This was Grant's and my first trip without our little guy. On the ride down I was really nervous and uneasy, but by the time we got there I was better. We were busy the entire weekend. Grant and I had so much fun! It was so nice not having to worry and have to get back by a certain time. The wedding was gorgeous and it was fun dancing with our friends! 

There were times I just sat down and didn't have to move. I know, what is that? I didn't have to do anything. All I had to do is get myself ready... at my own pace. I was able to hang out with the wives during the day to lunch and shop. 

San Diego is beautiful. I can't wait to plan a trip next summer for Jake so he can play at Legoland, Sea World, and the Wild Animal Park! I missed my little man, but it was nice spending alone time with Grant. Grant and I do go on date nights, but never overnighters. One day we even slept in until 8am!

I'm so glad we went and spent some alone time. It's so important to put each other first even though that's hard to do with a little munchkin! I feel fortunate for a wonderful husband, beautiful healthy boy, and good friends.

We're back!

Grant, Jake, and I went on a little vacation. Just the 3 of us. We have taken trips, but never just the 3 of us. It was fabulous. In fact, there was lots of pool time and laying around. I didn't take a lot of pictures. I know... shocking. I captured the best moments though.

We finally used our time share! We were getting ready to lose one of our weeks so we planned a quick trip not too far from home. We went to Scottsdale, Arizona. Let me tell you... IT WAS HOT! I mean, HOT! It was an average of 105 the entire time. I'm used to 75 degrees all year long, so this was kind of a shock to my system. I drank LOTS of water and stayed in the shade. Jake, and Grant were not bothered by the heat at all. Of course! ;)


I was able to get a massage, pedicure, and just a little spa afternoon while the boys relaxed at the resort. Grant got in a game of golf as well. 

Jake was a little fish in the water. He has no fear. He was lunging forward head first into the water, kicking, and moving his little arms. He just loved it! I had a hard time holding on to him because he's so strong and he wanted to do his own thing. I love that his little personality is really starting to shine. He's such a happy boy... but, he is very independent. He loves to do things on his own. And swimming was NO exception. The video below is Jake in his raft bouncing along in the little "lazy river". Grant was right next to him. It was adorable!

I must warn you... My annoying voice in the video. I just get so darn excited! Anyhoo, here it is!

4th of July and Boise trip. (part two)

I got home from Boise on Tuesday evening and realized I forgot my laptop. So, I had to have my family send it to me. I just got it this afternoon. I'm so behind on pictures and posts. So, let me get right to it.

The 4th of July was so much fun! We hung out and ate lots of food! Good wine, laughter, and lots of fireworks. My parents backyard is pretty much on the 11th hole. It's beautiful. Grant set off fireworks in the back and so did all the other neighbors. You could see fireworks from 3 other surrounding cities. It was so beautiful. Another thing I love about Boise is that the sun doesn't set until 10pm. So, you can stay up and out longer. It's great! 

Jake did great with his sleep schedule. It didn't bother him at all. He adjusted to the time right away. He's so wonderful on the plane too. He cuddles up to me and sleeps the entire time. What a trooper! He's getting so big though. Like I said in a few blogs ago... The baby carriers are done. My back is usually so sore after I walk around with him in it.  Now, I just carry him or put him in the BOB stroller. I have the whole baby travel thing down packed. I never over pack and it's just the right amount. 

Grant and I have a little family vacation planned in August. We're going to Scottsdale, AZ. I haven't been in years. So, I'm excited to be taking a trip just our family of 3. :)

Jake's Dedication and our Boise trip. (Part one.)

This trip was especially special to Grant and I. Not only having family together, but getting our son dedicated. We decided to have the pastor that married us in 2009 dedicate our son. He has prayed for us and continues to pray for us. He is an incredible man. A man that Jake will look up to. When I am in town we go to the church on Sunday's. This is a special church to Grant and I. My parents, my grandma, and Grant's mom where all there as well. It was so special. I cried 8 times during the service. Tears of pure joy! So proud of my little man already! He is such a good baby. He looked right at the pastor and smiled at him. Not scared at all. Smiled on the stage to all the people looking at him. 

This has been a trip to remember! So many wonderful things have been going on. I'm so thankful for everything in my life. I know I say it a lot... but, I feel truly blessed. I'm so happy! :)

The guys have been playing golf everyday. The girls have been shopping, cooking, sitting outside, and site seeing. We've even hung out with friends that moved here from college. It's been very relaxing. I love it here. Sitting in my parents backyard, music playing, laughing, and staring at the golf course! It stays light until about 10pm! Seriously, it really does! Jumping on the golf course at any hour to hit some balls. Yes, please! So fun!

Grant went home last night. I was sad to see him leave. I come home this weekend. It will be sad to leave, but I know another trip will be in the making!

1st night away - Mommies night out!

I know this isn't a big deal to some. But, it is a big deal to me. I haven't spent a night away from my little man. I didn't think I was even going to do this trip as much as I talked about it. One night isn't a big deal though right? I'm not a bad mom for wanting one morning to sleep in?

Leonesse Cellars

My friend Liz and I both have little babies the same age. Victoria is 9 months and Jake is 10 months (next week). This was her first trip away as well. The way up we looked at each other and wondered if this was the right thing to do. But, we kept going. We really weren't going all that far and we would be back the next evening. The most important thing was the our little ones would be happy and safe. We both are fortunate to have very hands on husbands that wanted us to have a good time. So, deep down we knew our munchkins were in good hands. I once read somewhere that when you get away (even for a night) you come back a better happy mommy. I was that before... but, it was nice to not worry about anything for 24 hours!

We got to Temecula and went directly to Leonesse. My FAVORITE winery in the valley. We took the golf carts down through the winery and went into the barrel room to taste. They are great there! And the wine is SUPER YUMMY. Then we went over to Weins, Mount Palomar, and then Churon. We went to Churon because that's where we were staying the night. I will recap the wineries tomorrow on my wine blog winegirl15(click on link), so check there tomorrow morning. Then we went out to dinner at PUBlic House and then went to The Wine Collective.

Weins

Yes, we looked like twins! ha ha.

The next day Liz and I both woke up at 6am. Wide awake. It took us about 30 minutes to fall back asleep until 8:30am. We didn't go to bed until 1:30am so I was still tired. We had breakfast at the winery and then went to Glen Ivy resort for a spa day.

Glen Ivy was not what I expected. I've heard such great things about it... and I honestly wont go back. Broken Saunas and Steam rooms, it's crowded, loud, dirty, and the pools were so packed. It's wasn't my idea of a spa. Maybe I'm spoiled. But, I still like the Montage (Laguna Beach), and Burke Williams (Orange). I'll stick to those. Anyhow, Liz and I totally made the best of it! We took lounge chairs and put them in a far away location and we finally had piece. We found a spa with no one in it and jumped in! The best part about the trip to that spa was the grotto. They can only let a few people in at a time, so it wasn't too crowded. They take you down into a what looks like a cave (hence grotto), paint you with a mixture of aloe and coconut oil, and then you go into another room (like a steam room) so that your pours can open and you rub the mixture in. Then you walk into another room with showers to clean up. After that room there is another room with apples, and tea. So, that was nice. It was cool and somewhat quite so Liz and I enjoyed that. Here's the thing, I don't mean to sound like a snob or a brat, but I was getting away and I wanted to be in a quite zone. I've been to PLENTY of spas and they are always quite and not overcrowded. Liz and I laughed because we are the types that research things to death. We didn't research this place because so many people talk about it. UGH. Live and learn.

On the way home we stopped at Toms Farms. An open market with live music that my parents would take Marty and I to growing up. We got good produce and then headed home. Liz and I will laugh about this trip for years to come. All in all it was nice to get away. Temecula was local and we mainly wanted to get a little wine and sleep in. The spa was an added bonus. Next trip perhaps we'll venture further out like Santa Barbara, Napa, or Sonoma. Depending on when we are all pregnant! But, perhaps we can just make a couples trip and bring the babies! he he. Jake's already been to Santa Barbara, and Lodi. ;)

I got back in time to bathe Jake and hug on him. I missed him so much! I missed Grant too! I couldn't wait to hug the both of my boys! Lucky mommy.
