Weekly doctor blogging

Today I'm 38 weeks and 5 days. We went to our last OBGYN appointment.  I was having some contractions last night but the doctor confirmed that I'm still 1 cm dilated and 90% effaced. If I would have been 4 cm dilated we would have had Jake today. But, lucky me.... we will wait until Thursday. We went over and signed some paperwork in regards to the procedure, got details on what to expect the day the cesarean, and also talked about what still needs to be done. Tomorrow morning Grant is taking me to the hospital have my blood drawn, take a urine test, sign paperwork, and pre-admit me.

We are as ready as we can be! Grant got his T-dap shot, and I will get mine postpartum. We have the baby room all set up upstairs, and downstairs we have a glider, swing, and pack and play all set up. My parents fly into town this Saturday and will be here to help us. So excited to see them as well! It will be nice to have my mom by my side to guide me through becoming a mother. This is their first grandchild! :)

I want to thank my husband for being so wonderful these last 9 1/2 - 10 months! He has been very supportive, caring, and loving. I can't believe the time has come... we are going to be parents! Grant is going to be a terrific dad! I can't wait to start another chapter in our life together. The Stone family becomes 3!

Thank you all for your supportive words and advice. I appreciate it all. I will post a little something tomorrow after my pre-op appointment and perhaps my last picture as a pregnant woman!

Grant and I will be updating our blog with news and pictures of our little man! So, definitely check back later.

Love and cheers,
Brooke

38 weeks

Today was a great day! Woke up and had an early breakfast at my favorite local cafe (Coffee Cup Cafe), got my nails done, and one of Grant's clients threw us a baby shower! So many amazing women and men. All of them there to support Grant, I, and our little unborn man. It was nice to see how many people love my husband and want the best for him! I got lots of great advice from nurses, and even drank a virgin pina colada! ;) It was a lot of fun getting to know more people that Grant works with on a regular basis! Grant and I got lots of fun stuff! Thank you for all that put this together and that came to support us. I will bring Jake by after he is born!

Daddy and Mommy to be:

We played a game where Grant had to put a ball under his shirt and then we took string and had to figure out how big he was! (Good thing I have the real baby in my belly... looks like someone snuck a beer!) ;)

Even Mike played the game!

Opening up one of our gifts.

This afternoon I received a package from Terra (she went to high school with Grant in Tulsa, Oklahoma). She owns a monogramming business and is very talented! She made all of this for Jake! She makes the most adorable things! Check out her website: Tickled Sew Pink
Thank you Terra for all the items you sent! Grant and I love them!

This is Grant's and my last weekend as a couple of 2. I hope we are able to relax and take it all in before our family grows to 3! I can't wait to meet our little man next Thursday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Love and cheers,
Brooke

37 weeks and 5 days

It's time for my weekly doctor blogging!

I woke up today very excited because my doctor is back from vacation! Phew! Now... If I go into labor I have her to deliver Jake. My doctor is seriously awesome! She has also become a personal friend. She said if I go into labor before my scheduled Cesarean to text her so she can get ready to meet me at the hospital! I'm lucky to have that sense of security. With all the unknown I feel I'm about to embark on .... I have a doctor/friend that always gives it to me straight and that I can trust with my life... literally! ;)

Here is the updated news on Jake:

1 cm dilated, 90% effaced. He is a complete breech... butt is down and in place in the pelvis. This is the best breech position because his little tooshy can act as a block or plug if my water is to break, rather than a foot, or the umbilical cord hanging that can exit first. She doesn't think I'll go into labor before my date... but, if Jake is ready... he's coming on his schedule! I would just get to the hospital quickly so that we would get the Cesarean going! Clearly Jake already has a mind of his own though. ;)

I have decided to stop being a baby because I'm going to be having one. Big girl pants are on and I'm ready to face that I'm having a Cesarean! I'm excited to be having our son with my doctor, great anesthesiologists, and one of the best NICU's in the country if something was to go wrong. I'm a confident, positive person and I believe that everything is going to go great!! God is good and will protect my family and I!

Grant has been very supportive of my fears and I know he will be a great father that will follow our little man around the hospital until I'm out of recovery! My brother Marty and his wife Ashley will be there for the birth of Jake, and a few friends will be there as well (we were told to limit visitors because I'll be tired and sore from the procedure)! My parents are flying in on September 4th and staying with us until the 14th. I'm so grateful they are coming out to help! This is there 1st grandchild. My grandma will be staying with us in October, and Grant's mom will be flying out October 20th-30th to stay with us. I can't wait to see all of our family and for them all to meet our son! Feeling very loved! :)

We will meet our son on September 2 at 10am!!

I will post a picture of me at 38 weeks this Thursday. I have been forgetting... and I'm getting pretty darn big!

Love and cheers,
Brooke

Baby Stone room

Jake's room is done! Total boy room and I'm loving it! I just wish my big brown rocking chair and ottoman fit. But, we are still looking for that perfect chair for his room. But in the end I don't think the little guy will even sleep there for quite a while! :)

And here is an updated picture on how big I am at 37 weeks! I swear I just got huge overnight! I can't believe it!
Tomorrow is my 37 week appointment. I will be 38 weeks this Thursday. Looks like about a week and a half until we meet our little boy! Time is flying!

Love and cheers,
Brooke

37 Weeks

Yesterday was my weekly appointment. I saw another doctor since my doctor is on vacation this week. Have some new information in regards to Jake this morning. Not sure I'm excited or scared! ;)

Jake is now Frank Breech. I'm 1 centimeter dilated, and 70 percent effaced.

They estimate that he is already 7 pounds. I'm considered FULL TERM TODAY! I'm trying to take it easy until my doctor comes back from vacation next week. I barely got over the fact that I'm having a Cesarean... However, I'm not ready to have a Cesarean and have another doctor do it too!

I'm still continuing to pray that Jake turns. God's plan once again though. :)

Here is a chart about effacement and dilation in case you have no idea what that is:

I ordered some books on Amazon last week and they just came in the mail. The first book has been recommended by a few friends (Thank you Melina, and Vanessa). And the other 2 are staple books to have on hand.

I will update our blog as I go along. I can't wait to turn my blog into a book at the end of the year! It will be something I can give Jake or Jake's wife on day. My journey through pregnancy with my little rascal!

Love and cheers,
Brooke Stone

Baby Grant

Ginny (Grant's sister) scanned a few photos of Grant as a baby. I wanted to post a few. First one is Grant's first photo, and the second is Grant swimming with his mom and grandfather. Look at my little husband! Love it! I will have to scan some photos of me as a child and we can do a comparison on Jake later!

Wonder if we will have a blonde haired, blue eyed baby?? I should set up a poll on this blog!

Anyhow, Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday! Enjoy gstone as a baby! ;)

Love and cheers,
Brooke

Sneak Preview of Jake's room. (36 weeks)

I'm well into my 36 week now. The only changes that are happening is that I'm now officially getting swollen. No matter what I do my feet get really swollen at night. And I actually have to elevate them. Just sitting with my feet dangling does NOT do the trick.

Yesterday I went to the movies with some girlfriends and I was totally uncomfortable. I could feel my feet swelling up! My legs were even getting swollen! I probably shouldn't have ordered popcorn (and add my own helping of butter)! Pretty sure that pushed me over the edge! haha.

Here's the latest on the c-section:
I talked to the scheduler yesterday and here are the details for my c-section. September 2, 10am. I have to get to the hospital at 8am to check in and go through my pre-op. If Jake decides to move the night before we will still cancel the surgery. :) If not, that will be his birthday!! Grant will be living with 2 virgos! My 30th birthday is September 13th... looking like a bottle of Vueve is in my future. ;)

20 DAYS UNTIL JAKE ARRIVES! I can't believe it!

Here is a quick preview of Jake's room. We still have finishing touches to add... but, here is the concept up his varsity/sports room.
We still need to hang the TV, pictures and take some of the last minute touches out of the boxes. I hope to have this all done by next week. Then I will take a panned out picture of the room. But, until then... here are some teasers!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Love and cheers,
Brooke
